Hops & More Hops.

Rockford Brewing Company is very lucky to have strong relationships with our local hop growers, like Hopyards of Kent . Today, Aaron Trapp, Sales Manager & Brewer and Tiffany Ewigleben, Marketing Consultant, had the chance to check out a few acres of their hops with Jim Parks & Craig Van Driel.

Some of these hops will be harvested and used for our upcoming collaboration beer with Brewery Vivant– our Harvest Hub.

RBC is all about Fresh, Local, and Timely, and you can’t get much fresher than this!

Cascade, Chinook, and a special variety of hops called Michigan Heritage were some of the deliciousness being grown here.

Michigan Heritage hops are a newer varietal, with only four acres in not only the state (obviously), but in existence.

Cirtrusy, aromatic and lush, these hops are featured in our Harvest Hub. We can’t wait for you to taste them, but since you HAVE to wait, why don’t you enjoy these pictures from our morning?..

Comet Obsession – Available 9/4!

As always – Mug Club Members get early access to this new beer on Thursday 9/3!

Comet Obsession

Style: Session – Rye Pale Ale

IBU: 43 ABV: 4.5%

Named for its play on words, Obsession has been our “session” rye pale ale brewed with a healthy dose of Rye Malt and a proprietary blend of hops each summer since 2013. Building on that concept in 2015 and recognizing the obsessive demand for unique hop varieties in the beer market, we have decided to use Obsession as a platform to brew a series of single-hopped beers. The new “Obsession Series” will always be brewed with the same base recipe, but with a different hop varietal. Comet hops: A pungent, wild American aroma with grapefruit and pineapple flavors.

May 21st: Rockford Brewing releases Country Ale in Bottle, on draft, and hosts BBQ party!

country ale bottle zoomWe will be releasing our 2015 Rockford Country Ale on tap, and in limited bottles! …starting 11am.

Rockford Counry Ale – French Farmhouse Ale
IBU: 28 ABV: 7.3%

This annual spring offering is a hybrid of beer styles inspired by the ideas of a French Biere de Garde and a Belgian Saison. It has a beautiful copper colored body with orange hues under a dense creamy white head. Its pleasant, toasty malt forward profile balances nicely with fruity esters of pear and apricot before finishing with herbal and fresh cut hay-like notes. Rockford Country Ale is crisp, rustic and always unfiltered!

An excellent bottle to age and cellar, or enjoy fresh!
